Visit the Hill 2023

I don’t think I would be too far off in assuming that everyone reading this has a passion for education and cares about the educational well being of the students we work with. An easy way to put that care into action is to learn more about how legislation can affect the accessibility of education for students in Iowa.

That is what Iowa ACAC’s annual Visit the Hill event is all about! This year’s Visit the Hill sessions will cover important topics, such as supporting first generation students, acknowledging the investment that education can be, and understanding the role of College and Career Transition Counselors. As always, there will be a presentation to prepare everyone in attendance to effectively share their stances with Iowa legislators.

In addition to these great presentations, lunch will be provided to fuel everyone up for the journey to the Iowa State Capital building for the chance to speak directly with Iowa legislators.

While the goal of better understanding the issues that we are facing in the world of education remains the same, the venue for Visit the Hill has changed. This year’s Visit the Hill will be held on Thursday, February 23 at the State Historical Building, starting at 9 a.m.

Iowa ACAC’s Government Relations Committee would love to see admissions professionals, school counselors and their students at this event. We also think it would be great to see students that have benefitted from the Iowa Tuition Grant or other similar scholarships in attendance to give them a chance to thank their legislators for the difference that these scholarships make.

Registration is FREE and available now: https://www.iowaacac.org/visit-the-hill

We hope to see you at the Hill!
