It seems like spring has sprung in the state of Iowa!  There is a lot of activity underway with Iowa ACAC.  I was excited to see so many at the Visit the Hill event in Des Moines in February. It was a day filled with learning about issues important to higher education and the group learned how to continue to be strong advocates for these causes. Of course, the FAFSA delay has thrown many colleges and universities into a state of confusion as well as creating anxiety for prospective students. We have an opportunity this year to be extraordinarily accommodating as prospective students work through this delay.

There is much more ahead this spring:

The 2024 MIDWest Conference is coming up May 19 -21. This is definitely e a must-attend event. We will be pulling together our admission friends from the Dakotas, Minnesota and Wisconsin.  I always gain something new from all the different sessions. Make your plans now to attend.

The RIDE (Rediscovering Iowa’s Diverse Education) takes place once again in June. This long-standing program gives high school counselors a chance to experience life on colleges and universities.  The RIDE this year will swing through Northeast Iowa. Registration is open!

Iowa ACAC Spring College Fairs have wrapped up! Watch for the 24-25 schedule to be announced by the end of May.

It seems like there is something for everyone to participate in this spring. Take advantage of all that Iowa ACAC has planned. I remain grateful to our Iowa ACAC Board and their committee members who work to support their fellow professionals and students.
