4 Reasons to Attend Visit the Hill 2018

“As soon as any man says of the affairs of the State "What does it matter to me?" the State may be given up for lost.” These things matter, not only to individuals invested in education, but as a citizenry as a whole.”                                                                                               Jean-Jaques Rouseau

If the first few weeks of 2018 are any indicator, it seems that this will be a year of political change, policy restructuration, and debate. Iowa ACAC: Visit the Hill 2018 remains a direct opportunity to connect with the civic issues we face today.

The Government Relations committee warmly welcomes all of you to join us on Tuesday, February 20, for Visit the Hill 2018.

Take a glance at the 4 reasons to attend this year’s event:

  1. Engage - Whether it be connecting with other education professionals or actively listening to the slate of speakers and presenters, this event will keep you up and engaged.
  2. Explore - The mid-winter rut has set in. Warm up to a new topic area and find a passion that can light a fire for this year.
  3. Endorse - Fight for what you believe in. It isn’t often that you can be a part of dialogue such as this. Don’t miss the chance to voice your opinion.
  4. Exhale - Take a breather, join in some comradery, and enjoy yourself!

Past breakout session topics have included,

  • Prior-prior year and changes to the FAFSA
  • College funding
  • Effectively engaging with elected officials
  • College readiness and preparation

There is no cost to participate in the Visit the Hill program. Register yourself and bring along secondary and postsecondary students. Let them be a part of the process and learn from a visit to The Hill!  (Travel scholarship also available to assist with some of your costs.)
