Check out the 2013 RIDE Schedule!

This free, three-day bus tour takes secondary counselors from door-to-door to Iowa's college campuses, providing a first-hand look at all the schools can offer their students.

Every year the RIDE's region of travel changes, taking counselors to a variety of colleges in a specific region for tours, hands-on learning, meals and even overnights in residence halls!

The Iowa Association for College Admission Counseling (Iowa ACAC) is pleased to announce this year’s Rediscovering Iowa’s Diverse Education, or The R.I.D.E., from June 9-12, 2013. The R.I.D.E. is designed to allow high school counselors three days of fun and learning at several colleges and universities in Iowa for FREE!

You may also earn graduate credit from the University of Sioux Falls!

This year’s R.I.D.E. will focus on colleges and universities in central Iowa. Stops will include:

Ellsworth Community College
Marshalltown Community College
Grinnell College
Iowa State University
PCI Academy
Des Moines Area Community College – Ankeny Campus
Drake University
Mercy College of Health Sciences
AIB
Grand View University.

A $15 deposit will be used as your membership fee to Iowa ACAC once The R.I.D.E. is completed. Make sure to share this professional development opportunity with your counseling counterparts throughout the state!  If you have question about The R.I.D.E, please contact Iowa ACAC President-Elect, and RIDE Coordinator, Debbie Barger at 800-444-6803 or by e-mail at dbarger@grandview.edu.

"The R.I.D.E. is the most beneficial H.S. counselor staff development I've discovered in the past six years - what an amazing wealth of opportunities we have and many students have profited from my R.I.D.E. experiences! Do I plan to go again next summer? You bet!"
Donna McCullough, Counselor
Jefferson HS
Cedar Rapids, IA

"The best and only way for our students to choose a college is through a college visit. The best way for school counselors to emulate this critical step is to take advantage of the R.I.D.E."
Renea Ogren, Counselor
Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn HS
Marcus, IA

"Each year I come back excited and energized with the knowledge I've learned. Besides the college tours and information, the R.I.D.E. provides me a great chance to network with other counselors throughout the state...something one can never do enough."
Tricia Christiansen, Counselor
Hampton-Dumont HS
Hampton, IA
