Membership Fees and Benefits

Membership Directory
All individuals and institutions who join by August 1 are listed in the online membership directory.  Memberships are also granted access to the online High School Visit Policy Database.

College Day/College Night Programs
IACAC coordinates a series of college day and night programs each fall and spring for high school students.  A calendar of these approved programs is distributed only to IACAC members.  Guidance counselors who are currently program site coordinators are provided a college day/night program schedule.  It is the purpose of IACAC to provide every high school an opportunity to participate in an IACAC college day/night program.

Quarterly SCENES Newsletter
Members receive SCENES which provides information about IACAC activities and higher education issues, as well as professional news announcements from members.

Networking
IACAC members are encouraged to learn from one another through networking and involvement in IACAC committees.  Such opportunities help members advance professionally and better serve students in the transition to post-secondary education.

Spring Conferences
IACAC hosts an annual conference at convention sites around Iowa.  Hundreds of secondary and post-secondary professionals participate each year.  Attendees select from a variety of workshops and recreational and social opportunities.  Iowa also teams with Minnesota and Wisconsin to hold a tri-state conference every other year.  The tri-state conference is an opportunity for professionals to meet and network with their counterparts from other states.

IACAC Listserve
The IACAC listserve is a forum to discuss issues facing secondary and admission professionals across the state of Iowa. The listserve allows you to communicate with your colleagues on important issues, obtain feedback on new ideas, learn from each other and discuss relevant topics and issues in college admission counseling.

Visit the Hill -- Legislative Visit to the State Capitol
IACAC offers the opportunity for members to attend a one-day conference and visit to the state capitol to help further our mission of helping students in the transition from secondary to post-secondary education.  Each year a legislative agenda is set and members lobby for educational issues affecting the admission and guidance professions.

Counselor Workshops
Involvement in IACAC provides a variety of opportunities for professional development.  In addition to the sessions offered at the annual spring conference, members also have the opportunity to participate in a one-day guidance counselor workshop, a two-day admission counselor workshop, and student/support staff workshops.  The sites for these workshops rotate across the state, providing convenient access to training and information for all members. IACAC also annually provides a profile of visit policies and procedures for high schools and community colleges in the state of Iowa.
